Levocetirizine is a third-generation antihistamine (the active enantiomer of cetirizine). Allerzyx 5 is nearly always prescribed at 5 mg per tablet, and it treats allergic conditions driven by histamine.
What it's used for
Allergic rhinitis — both seasonal (hay fever) and year-round, including sneezing, runny/itchy nose, and itchy, watery eyes.
Chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives) — itchy welts and skin rash of allergic origin.
Allergic conjunctivitis — red, itchy, watery eyes.
Itching associated with other allergic skin conditions — sometimes used adjunctively.
Occasionally for allergic reactions generally, though not for severe/anaphylactic reactions — those need epinephrine.
